Job Purpose:

The District Behavior Specialist will work as a primary district resource for intensive behavior needs in all campuses of Dalton Public Schools. This is an itinerant position, and primary responsibilities will include behavior observation and analysis, FBA and BIP development, and leadership in developing an education program for students with and without disabilities that exhibit chronic and/or intense behavior needs. The behavior specialist will seek to collaborate effectively with a wrap-around team (to generally include the roles of student, parent, teacher, special education service provider, counselor, social worker, strategic community agency representative, Registered Behavior Technician, and administrator) in facilitating, coordinating, and supporting the development and implementation of social and behavioral strategies across the home, school, and community settings to benefit each student's academic programming.
Duties and
Responsibilities:

  1. Provides behavior support for students with and without disabilities, ages 3 to 22.
  2. Seeks to build student performance to engage in instruction in the least restrictive environment.
  3. Demonstrates in-classroom modeling and coaching of behavior techniques to enable and build staff capacity to deliver BIPs with fidelity.
  4. Pursues availability to provide behavior management consultation, learning strategies, instructional modifications, and interventions to teachers, paraprofessionals, specialized service providers, and administrators providing educational services to students with disabilities.
  5. Pursues availability to assist with observations, analysis, and collaborative team meetings for students to determine best placement options, modifications, and support programs needed to develop potential.
  6. Attends designated IEP meetings and IEP pre-meetings.
  7. Designs and conducts training for Dalton Public Schools staff in specialized behavior techniques that will support students' participation within the district's general or alternate curriculum (i.e., FBA techniques, BIP development, specialized behavior techniques).
  8. Pursues availability to develop Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) with analysis and leads development of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with special education case managers on referred cases for students with chronic behavior issues.
  9. Maintains confidential student records, including FBA and BIP reports, records of services provided, observation data, parent consents, and other documents as required.
  10. Provides direct instruction to students in academic and behavioral services, when required for Proportionate Share.
  11. Responds to crisis situations to provide support to students and staff.
  12. Pursues new developments in areas pertaining to behavior support, or as directed by supervisor.
  13. Participates in professional organizations, professional learning opportunities, and continually seeks to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
  14. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:

To be qualified for this position, the employee must possess knowledge of and experience in behavior support. Certification in the areas of Emotional Behavior Disorder, any area of Special Education, School Psychology, School Counselor, and School Social Worker, among others, will be considered.
Priority consideration will be given to candidates holding or pursuing the BCBA certification and candidates holding or pursuing a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.

This position works 210 days.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
