3K a year 1 day ago 1 day ago 1 day ago JOB SUMMARY Responsibilities include coordination of registration, billing, and electronic medical record process (EMR) in outpatient rehabilitation environment.
Obtains information for the registration process on incoming patients regarding services needed, including demographics, insurance information, pertinent medical records, and referrals for patient treatment.
Assists with care coordination by scheduling and confirming appointments with patients and working through any discrepancies or problems with the referral source.
Understands ICD-9 and ICD-10 terminology and importance of accuracy.
Serves as a liaison between clinical and clerical staff.
Answers phones and directs calls to appropriate staff if he or she cannot handle the request.
Make daily mail runs to main hospital to pick up and deliver interoffice mail.
Order supplies as necessary to ensure continuous efficient patient management and experience.
Verifies insurance coverage, pre-authorizations etc.
as insurance plan indicates.
Understands CPT coding and medical terminology as it relates to charging rules for various payers to minimize claims denials.
Works with CBO to resolve any claims denials.
Scans/faxes appropriate documentation required internally and externally to complete billing cycle and patient care experience.
Functions as a resource on EMR system for other staff.
Coordinates any software changes and updates with vendor, HMC IT department and rehab department.
Serves as a resource to other full time, part time and prn staff on EMR functionality and identify/solve any EMR issues that arise.
Promotes customer service and is an example for other staff to follow.
Thinks and acts proactively to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the front desk.
Provides oversight and direction of daily front office activities and staff; helping identify and prioritize tasks.

JOB
Qualifications Education:
High school graduate with functional knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
Previous customerservice experience preferred.
Prefer experience working in a medical office environment.
Licensure:
N/A
Experience:
At least two (2) years experience in a hospital/physician office preferred.
Experience with insurance pre-certification, medical terminology and diagnoses desired.
Skills:
Typing, medical terminology, computer knowledge, organization, telephone, and public relations manners.
Ability to identify and troubleshoot issues that arise and work with appropriate rehab staff and other departments to resolve issues.
Provide supervision and promote teamwork with front desk and clinical staff.
Ability to prioritize actions based on needs of department and patient care experience.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
